The Coach

Sam Wilson.

First pitcher in his high school's history over 90. JUCO control-record holder. Full-ride college commit. Now teaching the thing that made all of it possible — command.

Sam came up at Olympus High School in Utah, where he became the first pitcher in program history to throw over 90 — sitting 91 repeatedly as a senior.

From there, two years at Lane Community College, where he did something almost no one does: he set a JUCO control record — 48 innings pitched, and the only walk on his line was intentional, called from the dugout. That's not luck. That's a pitcher who has decided command is non-negotiable.

That season earned him a commitment to Bellevue University, a top-ranked NAIA program, on a full-ride scholarship.

Along the way, Sam trained inside the best development systems in the game — Driveline, Tread, and Tom House Sports. He came away with two things: a deep toolkit, and a conviction. The best systems do incredible work, but they assume one approach fits every arm. Sam believes pitchers are best served learning to coach themselves — using a coach to fill the blind spots, not to lean on forever.

That's what he teaches now.
